The relationship between grandparents and grandchildren is so sensitive. They have a strong bondage. This strong relationship could not be continued in some situations like when the death of the child’s parent occurs or when the family gets divorced. Most grandparents could not bear the idea of being unable to see their grandchildren. There involves several legal problems. They cannot become the custodians of their grand children though they are in miserable condition. Their visits to their grandchildren are not permitted.
In such situation has come the concept of Grandparents Visitation Rights. They sought relief from a collage of laws and legal precedents which vary greatly from location to location.
Grandparents Visitation is an officially authorized right which grandparents in some realms may have court ordered visitation of their grandchildren. All 50 States in United States have a Grandparent Visitation decree which permits grandparents to appeal to the court of law to grant them official permission to maintain contact with their beloved grandchildren.
The underlying principle behind this Grandparents Visitation rights is sometimes, especially with the death of a parent or with a divorced family, the children are deprived of the opportunity to have contact with the non-custodial parent.
